6 Month Professional Photography Course

The Professional Digital Photography Certification Programme is a cutting edge course which was developed by Johnathan Andrews over the past decade. The programme was designed for a student who has no prior knowledge of photography (or how to use a digital SLR camera) and systematically develops the student’s theoretical and skills base to enter the market as a freelance photographer. 

After fundamental training has been completed, students progressively deal with more challenging and complex photographic assignments, until the Applied Digital Photography subject where diverse photographic genres are explored from photojournalism to wedding and product photography.

Upon successful course completion the graduate can enter the market as freelance photographer.

Requirements

PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • No photography experience is required. This is a course which starts at beginners level and progresses to advanced.
  • This course is a skills based programme.
  • The course is presented in English.

EQUIPMENT

A student needs the following equipment to attend the course:

  • Use your own Digital SLR camera and lenses
  • Tripod
  • 5-in-1 reflector *
  • Laptop computer with Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Bridge installed
  • External flash
  • A wireless flash trigger *
  • 2 x light stands *
  • 1 x disc arm holder *

* These items are compulsory to be bought through JAA.

Course Duration

The course takes approximately 6 months to complete.

  • 12 Weeks training in Johannesburg.
  • 8 Weeks online assignments and further training done online.
  • 4 Weeks of exams in Johannesburg.
Course Fee

R 125 000 per person

The course fee can be settled in one payment before course commencement, or can be paid in installments:

  • One payment before course commencement - R 110 000 (a settlement discount of R 15 000 applies).
  • Installments - R 35 000 deposit before course commencement PLUS 4 installments of R 22 500 each.

Note that the full course fee needs to be settled before a student will be admitted for examinations.
